A Note From Our President and Founder, Dave Byrne

We’ve long known that New York is susceptible to the negative effects of overdependence on the state power grid. Established in 2013, we at Renua have been on a mission to improve energy resiliency and energy independence in New York – it is part of our vision to lead local infrastructure and empower landowners to be part of this energy transition.

We are proud to be a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB, certified by New York, Massachusetts and the Federal government). My time in the military has enabled me to embed core values of service in our work at Renua – we are vigilant about working with integrity and focus on making sure our words and actions align.

Based out of South Glens Falls, we are your local developer with expertise in working with municipalities throughout New York – we build upon the experience of our employees and leadership that work in and around the Hudson Valley to ensure we streamline municipal approval processes.

We continually strive for top customer satisfaction and work with our strategic partners to improve on a daily basis. To this effect, we have partnered with Lightstar Renewables, another leading solar developer who will fund your project development and be the long-term owner operator of it. Together, we will steward your land before, during and after the project is built, while maintaining long-term relationships with you.

“As I look out over these projects, I am filled with pride – proud that the job is complete and most importantly proud of the relationship with the property owner that helped it all come together.”

— Dave Byrne

“For all of us at Renua, there is nothing more gratifying than proof of concept and adding to our successful track record.”

No cost for landowners

You provide the land, we provide everything else. Our partner, Lightstar, pays for the full cost of installation.

Let your land pay for itself

Our generous monthly lease payments often provide enough income for landowners to retire or avoid other development. Typical projects are built on 15-30 acre parcels and produce enough energy to power around 1,000 average-sized homes for a year.

Produce energy

Now your farm can produce enough energy to power around 1,000 homes for a year – helping local residents reduce their energy bills and dependency on corporate power sources.

We preserve New York farmland

We take land maintenance seriously. Our core values are respect, integrity and service — with that, our goal is to leave your land in a better condition than we found it, often through planting pollinator habitats and grass mixes. We take extreme care throughout the lifecycle of the project, from construction to maintenance to eventual decommission — all at no cost to farmers or landowners.

Grow crops or graze animals

Keeping the “farm” in solar farming; you don’t have to choose between dairy farming and solar farming. Our installations can be designed with crops and animals in mind. Want to grow crops? Our infrastructure includes irrigation and animal/deer fencing. Got livestock? We provide fencing, loading areas, and shelters, and we account for water access.

What others are saying

“There are so many choices when it comes to choosing a solar developer to partner with these days. We chose to work with Dave and the team at Renua because they have the experience and successful track-record in community solar and solar farming that others did not. Additionally, we felt that Dave really understood what mattered to us and our family as landowners and project stakeholders and his approach was one of integrity, respect, and transparency from the very beginning. We have always felt that the relationship to us, the land, the community, is at the heart of every decision Dave makes on behalf of Renua- and that is very comforting! It gives us peace of mind knowing that he has our best interests in mind and is whole-heartedly invested in our success. We would recommend Dave and the Renua team to anyone looking to start a conversation about partnering with a solar developer in the New York area.”

— Bob and Cecille Moffat of Peru, NY

“We contacted Renua Energy after a reference from business colleagues in the lodging industry. Renua was attentive to our needs, communicated well throughout the process, and went above-and-beyond in several aspects of the project. I would highly recommend Renua Energy. Their work was done quickly with minimal interruption to our business operations."

— Shaukat Minhas, Chatham Travel Lodge, Chatham NY
